Cherry Pie Muffins

- 2 ½ cups flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tst salt
- ¼ pound butter, melted (one stick)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp vanilla
- 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz.)
- 1 cup sliverd almonds, toasted [optional]
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Make a well in the middle and add butter, sour cream, egg, and vanilla.
Mix together well.
Add cherry pie filling and slivered almonds and mix again.
Spoon batter into greased muffin tins and bake at 400° for 25 to 30 minutes.
Check with toothpick for doneness, then remove tin from oven and cool on rack about 10 minutes before removing muffins.
(Note: muffins can be frosted.)
